Usage:

A-な・Ｎ＋(だ) ＋というより
Meaning:
rather, more than
Explain:
Means 「rather than」, or「would say it is more like」. Used to indicate that a certain way of putting something is more appropriate.
Example:
1. 僕 と 彼 が 友達？ いや、僕たち は 友達 というより いい 競争 相手 なんだよ。
ぼく と かれ が ともだち？ いや、ぼくたち は ともだち というより きょうそう あいて なんだよ。
Is he friend with me? No, we are competitor rather than friend.
2. 美知子 は 歩く のが 速い。歩く というより 走る という 感じだ。
みちこ は あるく のが はやい。あるく というより はしる という かんじだ。
Michiko walks so fast. It is a feeling that runs rather than to be walking.
みちこ は あるく のが はやい。あるく というより はしる という かんじだ。

3. 彼女 は 可愛い というより 怖い です。
かのじょ は かわいい というより こわい です。
Rather than being cute, she looks scary.

This magazine is more boring than interesting.
5. 彼 は 天才 というより むしろ 変人 だ。
かれ は てんさい というより むしろ へんじん だ。
Rather than a genius, it's better to say that he is an eccentric.
